Portsmouth Ladies continued their recent resurgent form with a last-gasp win over Keynsham.

Lauren Murphy and Gemma Hillier scored two early goals for Pompey, but they were pegged back before Sarah Kempson slotted home a 94th-minute penalty to clinch the three points.

It was Pompey’s third win in a row and takes them up to fifth in the FA Women’s Premier League South, 11 points behind leaders Gillingham with two games in hand.

And it sets them up nicely for next Sunday’s historic clash with Spurs at Fratton Park – the first time the ladies’ team has played there.

Meanwhile, the reserves crashed 3-0 at home to Brighton in the League Cup, and the under-16s thrashed Crawley 6-2, with goals from Mia McCreesh and Paige Mullings (two apiece), Brittany Jeal and Charley Sanford.

Walk in the park for Parkwood

In the South East Counties Women’s Premier League, Parkwood Ladies triumphed 2-0 at Aylesford, thanks to first-half goals from Emily Vaughan and Jade Goodall, to maintain the pressure on the leading sides.

They lie fifth, three points behind leaders Crockenhill with two games in hand.

Parkwood have also played fewer games than second-placed Haywards Heath and Bexhill United, who move into third after beating their West Sussex rivals 4-2 at Haywards Heath.

Anchorians remain fourth after beating South Park 4-1 in Reigate.

Wivi bitten by top dogs

Chichester City Reserves extended their lead in Division One West to 10 points with an emphatic 4-0 win over second-placed Wivelsfield Green (see report).

Rusthall, Seahaven and Worthing Minors all closed the gap on Wivi with comfortable victories against Milford & Witley, Dorking and Haywards Heath Seconds respectively.

The Heath have lost all seven league games this season and remain three points adrift of Milford.

Eastbourne, 2-1 winners at Bexhill United Reserves, remain in mid-table but have several games in hand on all their rivals.

Chi teach Portsmouth Uni a lesson

Goals by Lauren Cheshire, Jade Widdowson and Jenna Fowlie enabled Chichester City to continue their incredible unbeaten run as they beat University of Portsmouth 3-0.

The win – their fifth in a row in all competitions – keeps them second in the South West Combination League, behind Plymouth Argyle on goal difference but with a game in hand.

Chichester are at home to Gloucester City in the FA Cup first round on Sunday (kick-off 1pm).
