The job of rebuilding Sussex’s women’s representative side has fallen to someone who is at once a veteran – and a novice.

Kim Stenning’s is a familiar face in top-level football in the county, having figured prominently in Brighton’s recent history and more recently with Lewes, after sampling Super League action with Millwall. Continue reading

Portsmouth will have to play the biggest game in Premier League history on Sunday without either of their first-team goalkeepers after the league told them they would have to use one of their teenage understudies.

But Perry Northeast’s plans have been thrown into chaos after discovering that rules introduced to cover this season’s first ever play-off prevent the experienced Michelle Beazley replacing the suspended Sadie Blakely because she has not played enough games for the club. Continue reading

The Surrey club, needing to win their final game to pip Old Actonians to the Premier Division championship, duly romped to a 7-0 win over London Corinthians, who had also been in the title race until the final stages.

But their place as champions has not been confirmed after league officials revealed they were investigating the eligibility of a player involved in a previous game. Continue reading
