Chichester continued their relentless march to the Premier Division with an emphatic 7-1 victory over a ring-rusty Wivelsfield Green at Chichester College.

The SECWL Division One West front-runners stretched their lead to 19 points – an almost unbridgeable gap, with less than a third of the season still to play.

But the gulf that really showed was the one between their superbly drilled side and the rest of the league.

Wivelsfield, currently third, performed admirably in their first competitive game for two months, and are one of the division’s stand-out sides – after Chichester. Continue reading

Double-tops for classy Chichester

South West Combination League table 15/12/13SCWL Div One West league table 15/12/13The mighty Chichester City juggernaut is ending the year on an unprecedented high, with both its senior women’s teams sitting pretty on top of their respective leagues.

Its first team overtook previous South West Combination leaders Swindon Town after staging a comeback in wet and windy Newquay to triumph 4-2, leaving them two points clear of their Wiltshire title rivals with a game in hand.

And their reserves – already 11 points clear in SCWL Division One West – made it a weekend to remember with a season-best 8-0 league win to extend the gap between them and second place to 14 points. Continue reading
