It’s always nice to hold your club presentation evening in somewhere called the Victory Lounge.

And while the Victory in mind might have more to do with one of the finest competitors ever to come out of Portsmouth, the flagship that featured in Lord Nelson’s most celebrated triumph is a fine metaphor for the teamwork and spirit that now pervades that city’s football club. Continue reading

Best girls’ team in Sussex – and Kent – and Hampshire. It seems a fair enough boast after Lewes Community won the SCWGL Under-16 Division A with games to spare.

The East Sussex side, who have led the league all season, did their bit yesterday, defeating a game Portsmouth Ladies U16 side 2-0.

But they then had to wait for the results of a double-header involving their only rivals for the title, Crawley Town. Continue reading

Parkwood Rangers ensured a nailbiting finale to the South East Counties Premier Division title race after returning to winning ways in style.

After two defeats on the trot, the long-time leaders went back to the top after defeating Dartford 5-1.

Lethal strike pair Emily Vaughan and Millie Main did the damage, lifting Parkwood three points clear of title favourites Bexhill United, who have three games in hand. Continue reading
