Pompey joint-manager Perry Northeast said the team’s historic FA Cup victory over Super League Durham was a fitting tribute to their centre-back Lauren Murphy, who suffered a bad knee injury in the second half.
Watching Murphy carried from the field, in apparent agony, appeared to galvanise her team-mates, and they redoubled their efforts for the final 10 minutes – plus seven of injury time, during which Charley Wilson scored a memorable winner. Continue reading
